About

"An Essay on Insipidity", also known as Essay I, is a purposely bad RTP-made game that aims to be a quick character study and observation of a poverty-living Honduran child named Ernesto, who uses RPG Maker to make a game to try and cope with the harsh reality he lives in.

The dialogue is a mishmash of broken to unintelligible English and Spanish.

I made this in one week in RPG Maker MZ Trial Version to test the engine and subsequently gave the game some updates with time.

The game received its last update (v1.1.0) on October 13, 2021.

Controls

Arrow Keys - Character movement / Choose dialogs / Navigate through menus
ESC/X      - Open, Close Menu / Back / Cancel / Delete characters on the name selection screen
Enter/Z    - Character interaction / Confirm dialog choices / Confirm menu choices

You can also use the mouse to move your character around and to click on the menu options.
